Marrakech, Coastal and Desert Tour
Arrival at the Marrakech airport (flight arranged by the traveller), private pick-up and transfer to the riad.
Breakfast. Beginning of the visit to Marrakech, starting with the outside of the Koutoubia Mosque. Later, we arrive at the semi-old part of the city. We visit the Bahia Palace, built by the vizier Si Moussa for personal use with its more than eight-hectare estate.
Then we take a walking tour through the medina, the old part of the city. We see first hand the different neighborhoods of artisans, as well as the souks and markets that the medina houses. We also visit the Jemaa el-Fnaa square, the main focus of the city and where acrobats, storytellers, juice vendors, musicians and other merchants and artists transform this space into a living spectacle.
Breakfast and head to the Dadès Gorges. This drive along one of the highest highways in North Africa features the breath-taking scenery of the Atlas Mountains and will take us to the Tizi N’Tichka Pass.
Next, we explore the patchwork of villages, gardens and olive groves around the Skoura Palm Grove. Then, we head to the Dadès Gorges, a group of rugged rock formations and ravines.
Arrival at our accommodations. Dinner included.
Breakfast and outing to the desert of Erg Chebbi. On the way we pass by the ruggedly beautiful landscapes of Palmeral and the Todgha Gorges, a favorite of rock climbers.
Next, we arrive at Erfoud, and if time permits, we enjoy a beautiful sunset in the high desert.
In Merzouga, we leave the 4×4 behind and take a camel ride to our desert camp.
We recommend bringing a backpack with a change of clothes. Bringing a suitcase is not feasible on this trip. We enjoy dinner with live music and sleep in Berber tents.
Breakfast. Early morning departure to the Kasbah Taourirt, formerly the residence of one of the most powerful governors of the region. We see its interior decoration with stucco walls and cedar wood on the ceilings, which contrasts with its uniform adobe façade.
Head to the Ksar of Aït Ben Haddou, a beauty that intimidates. It’s one of the most identifiable and best preserved adobe fortresses in Morocco and it’s an UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Dinner and accommodations in a Kasbah inside Aït Ben Haddou. Our trip in time is so authentic that we won’t have electricity, and will use candles to illuminate the night.
Breakfast and free time, with the option of a horse ride and quad excursion in the city.
Head to Taroudant, also known as “little Marrakech”, passing through Taliouine, the Moroccan capital of saffron. Dinner included.
Departure to Agadir, enjoy its splendid beaches on arrival.
Continue to Essaouira.
Meet up with the local guide to visit Essaouira. We see its medina of whitewashed houses with blue doors and windows, which with its orderly and rectilinear layout is an anomaly in Morocco; or the Skala of the Kasbah, a crenellated platform facing the sea with a collection of European cannons.
In addition, there are optional activities in the city (surf lesson, horseback riding on the beach, quad biking, cycling, etc.
Breakfast in the riad and check-out. Pick up at 11:30am and head to Marrakech. On the way we visit a farm and observe their peculiar way of picking the argan fruit, from which the well-known medicinal oil is extracted.
Free time after arrival.
Breakfast in the riad and check-out. At the agreed time, private pick up and transfer to Marrakech airport. Arrival and end of our services.
