Imperial Cities and Desert Tour
Arrival at the Casablanca airport (flight arranged by the traveller), private pick-up and transfer to the hotel.
Breakfast. Panoramic tour of the city, including the United Nations Square, the Anfa neighborhood and the Hassan II Grand Mosque (entrance fee and tour included).
Continue to Rabat. Upon arrival, we see the exterior of the Royal Palace, the Hassan Tower and the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, and finish with a walk through the Kasbah of the Udayas.
Breakfast and check-out. Departure to Fez, making a stop in Meknes. Upon arrival, we enjoy a panoramic view where we can contemplate the 40 kilometers of walls that surround and protect this imperial city, leading to the iconic Bab Al Mansour, the largest gate in Morocco and North Africa.
Free time for lunch (on behalf of the traveller). Head to Fez.
Breakfast. Today we see the oldest of the imperial cities, starting with a panoramic visit from the lookout, where we see both the modern and the old city. We continue visiting the modern area, appreciating places such as the gates of the Royal Palace, the Bab Jeloud or the Jewish Quarter.
Once the contemporary zone is finished, we walk the medina of Fez on foot, like a journey through time, we see the ancient madrassa of Bou Inania, as well as the districts of the different artisans: goldsmiths, carpenters, loom workers, ending in the famous tanneries.
Afternoon free.
Breakfast and check-out. Departure to Merzouga, making a stop in Erfoud. If time permits, we enjoy a beautiful sunset in the high desert.
In Merzouga, we leave the 4×4 behind and take a camel ride to our desert camp.
We recommend bringing a backpack with a change of clothes. Bringing a suitcase is not feasible on this trip. We enjoy dinner with live music and sleep in Berber tents.
Head to the Dades Valley, on the way we tour the Palm Grove and the Todgha Gorges, a more than 300 meter high gorge wall created over time by natural erosion.
Arrival at the accommodations in Dades and dinner.
Breakfast. Today’s first stop is the Dadès Gorges, also known as Monkey Fingers or Atlas Brain, an abrupt landscape filled with impressive rock formations and ravines.
Next we see the Valley of the Roses, a beautiful place known for the cultivation and manufacture of the rose of Damascus.
Then we continue through the Palm Grove of Skoura, with its charming little nooks, its small villages, and its orchards and olive groves hidden under the palm trees. We discover the silhouettes of the old buildings and the art of its decoration.
Later we visit Aït Ben Haddou, a World Heritage site and one of the best ksars because of its exceptional state of conservation and being a setting for famous films (Gladiator, The Mummy and Babel among others). Head to Marrakech.
Breakfast. Beginning of the visit to Marrakech, starting with the outside of the Koutoubia Mosque. Later, we arrive at the semi-old part of the city. We visit the Bahia Palace, built by the vizier Si Moussa for personal use with its more than eight-hectare estate.
Then we take a walking tour through the medina, the old part of the city. We see first hand the different neighborhoods of artisans, as well as the souks and markets that the medina houses. We also visit the Jemaa el-Fnaa square, the main focus of the city and where acrobats, storytellers, juice vendors, musicians and other merchants and artists transform this space into a living spectacle.
Afternoon free.
Breakfast. Free day with the possibility of optional excursions (see here the excursions available from Marrakech).
Breakfast in the riad and check-out. At the agreed time, private pick up and transfer to Casablanca airport. Arrival and end of our services.
