3-day Marrakech to Merzouga Tour
>> Daily departures <<
Pick up at your accommodations in Marrakech at 8:30 AM. Today’s route drives along one of the highest highways in North Africa, featuring the breathtaking scenery of the Atlas Mountains and leading to the Tizi n’Tichka Mountain Pass.
Next, we explore the patchwork of villages, gardens and olive groves around the Skoura Palm Grove. Then, we visit the Kasbah Amridil, showcasing tools from daily life dating back hundreds of centuries.
Later, we see the Valley of the Roses, a beautiful place known for the cultivation and manufacture of the rose of Damascus. Our next stop along the way is the Dadès Gorges, also known as Monkey Fingers or Atlas Brain, an abrupt landscape filled with impressive rock formations and ravines.
Arrival at our accommodations. Dinner included.
Breakfast and outing to the desert of Erg Chebbi. On the way we pass by the ruggedly beautiful landscapes of the Palm Grove and the Todra Gorges, a favorite of rock climbers.
Next, we arrive at Erfoud, and if time permits, we enjoy a beautiful sunset in the high desert. Head to Merzouga.
In Merzouga, we leave the 4×4 behind and take a camel ride to our desert camp. Upon arrival, we find our suitcases already there, since they were transported by a 4×4 vehicle. We enjoy a starry night and an authentic Berber dinner.
Early risers can enjoy the desert sunrise. After breakfast we head back to the vehicle.
We make a few brief stops on the way back, including the town of Ouarzazate, where the Kasbah of Taourit is located. We see its exterior as it is currently closed for maintenance.
Next, we visit to Aït Ben Haddou, a World Heritage site and one of the best ksars because of its exceptional state of conservation. It has also served as a setting for famous films, including Gladiator, The Mummy, and Babel, among others.
Arrival at our accommodations in Marrakech. End of tour.
